This course focuses on the design of characters and technology to help give the viewers a sense of the world that they are immersed in. Topics such as character costume, props, mechanical suits, weapons and robotics are designed and explored through out the term. A great class for anyone who wish to specialize in character and hard surface design or for concept designers who wish to broaden their skill set into science fiction. Previous experience in solid perspective drawing and digital painting required to help you get the most out of the class. Softwares such as ZBrush, Blender,or Unreal Engine are optional for more advanced students who wish to explore and refine their designs in 3D.

RECOMMENDED PREREQUISITE: Vis Com 1: Dynamic Sketching. Intro to Character Design. Previous digital drawing/painting experience with Photoshop. Previous ZBrush, Blender, or Unreal experience required if student wish to design with 3D software in this class.
MATERIALS: Pen, Sketchbook, Computer, Photoshop, Digital Tablet. 3D software such as ZBrush, Blender and Unreal Engine are optional if the student wish to work in 3D.
INSTRUCTOR: Tony is a freelance concept artist who has worked in both Japan and US. His background in both comics and 3D gives him the foundation to work creatively between 2D & 3D mediums in his design work flow. His past clients include Apple, Game Republic, IronKlad Studios, & Heavy Metal.
