This fundamental class focuses on the basics of set dressing, perspective & composition for both on-site sketching and from imagination. (Ticket fee will be required at some field trip locations). Most class sessions will meet on locations to study architecture, human space design, scale, weathering, and natural foliage/ landscape structures. This is a great class for beginners and intermediate students who wish to improve their drawing abilities before enrolling into the Environment Design course.

This is a hybrid class that is streaming online using Zoom.
For the online students during the 4 field trip weeks, Ed will be uploading videos with short demo lecture, supplement drawing reference materials and explanations of the fieldtrip drawing assignment that he wish the online students to practice during the field trip weeks.
On the following Friday, Ed will meet with the online students on Friday, 5PM~6PM PST to go over their sketch work from the assignment. During the field trip weeks, Ed or his TA will also be communicating with the online students through the class Discord to help answer additional questions regarding the assignment.

RECOMMENDED PREREQUISITE: Intro to Perspective, Vis Com 1: Dynamic Sketching
MATERIALS: Traditional sketching mediums. Computer, Wacom, & Photoshop are needed toward the end of the class.
INSTRUCTOR: Ed Li is currently a Visual Development Artist at Disney Animation. His extensive layout experience brings in valuable knowledge to the class. His credits include: "El Dorado", "Spirit", "Sinbad", "The Princess & the Frog" & "Planes"

Students are strongly recommended to plan their schedule with some flexibility in mind to avoid schedule conflicts.
