This foundation painting course focuses on the study of costumed figure with the intention of capturing its personality, costume materials and storytelling. Topics such as facial structure, lighting, value, shape design, color, gesture, hands, material indication, & page composition will be discussed and demonstrated through the in class painting demos and HW feedback. This is a great class for anyone who want to
improve on their character painting for character design or illustration.

John Staub is a film and game concept artist who specializes in creating memorable character designs and key frame illustrations that captures the tent pole moments in the story. John’s past projects include “Captain Marvel”, “Black Panther”, “Avengers: Infinity War”, “Avengers: End Game”, “Spider-Man: Mile Morales”, “Shang-Chi” & “Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness”.
