This class focuses on the creation of animation storyboard sequences for action-adventure shows. The instructor will discuss the in-depth use of cinematic cameras and staging to help to build up a story and tension in a scene. The class will discuss various topics such as studying different types of action story staging, creating expressive drawings to show character performances, clear camera work/shot timing, and fight choreography will be discussed in the weekly lectures and homework assignments.

RECOMMENDED PREREQUISITE: Intro to Perspective, Dynamic Sketching, Analytical Figure Drawing, Sketching for Environment, Costume Gesture Drawing, Intro to Storyboard


MATERIALS: Computer/Laptop, Wacom & Photoshop/Storyboard Pro required
INSTRUCTOR: Melchior Zwyer is an experienced Storyboard Artist/Director whom is currently working as a Supervising Producer at Marvel Studios. Melchior's past projects include "Kung Fu Panda", "How to Train Your Dragon", "Batman: Year One", "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1&2", "Young Justice", "The Legend of Korra", "Star Wars: Rebels", "Trese" and Star Trek: Prodigy".

His past shows include “Legend of Korra (Director & Storyboard Artist)”, “How to Train Your Dragon (Vis Dev Artist)”, “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 & 2 (Storyboard Artist)” and many more.
